Maria Parmenter is a South Australian based artist who draws inspiration from her environment on Kaurna land and uses colour and expression to capture moments in time.

Formally trained in ceramics, she produced and exhibited primarily abstract sculptural work. Parmenter's work has shifted to painting, where she enjoys it's immediacy and the opportunity for colour translation.

Working in both oils and acrylics, Parmenter's work explores expression, gestural brush work and a typically warm, muted colour palette capturing the artist's experience of place and memory.
 
Parmenter's ceramic works are held in the Art Gallery of South Australia collection. Her paintings are in numerous private collections across Australia and the United Kingdom. Parmenter hopes to continue to pursue the gentle moments and memories and capture them in painted medium, fostering an evolving career as a visual artist.
